On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the war between Russia and Ukraine had been going on for 1,024 days. During this part of the war, fighting got worse, new political events happened, and important social issues came up. Here’s a more in-depth look at what happened that day:

The fighting gets worse with more charges and counterattacks.
Both sides are still using strategic offensives and countermeasures on the ground, which is still a place where a lot of damage can happen.

Massive Russian Missile Attacks

Russia launched one of its biggest air attacks to date, aiming at Ukraine’s already weak power grid. Moscow shot 93 missiles at Ukraine, damaging power plants badly and leaving parts of the country without power. This attack has made it even more clear that Ukraine needs advanced air defense weapons from its Western allies right away.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attack was a stark warning of how bad the war is and how much more help from the West is needed. Energy company DTEK stated that there was a lot of damage and warned that millions of Ukrainians would be without power for a long time.
