The Russian military ministry claims that Ukraine has started a counter-attack in the Kursk area of Russia.
Moscow said it had responded with artillery and air power as officials in Ukraine also indicated an operation was under way.
In August, Ukrainian troops arrived in the Kursk area and grabbed some land. In other places, Russian troops have driven them back without completely ejecting them.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, security assurances bringing the war to an end would only be successful if the US under Donald Trump supplied them.
Zelensky commended the impact of the next US president during a podcast conversation with Lex Fridman and implied Trump has the means to at least stop Russia’s continuous invasion.
Without specifics, Trump promised throughout his presidential campaign to fast end the conflict.
Zelensky stated “Trump and I will come to an agreement and… offer strong security guarantees, together with Europe, then we can talk to the Russians”.
The Russian defence ministry claims that on Sunday, a Ukrainian assault force of two tanks, one military engineering vehicle, and twelve armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) assaulted near the village of Ber Din at 09:00 (06:00 GMT).
Said to have destroyed both tanks, the military engineering vehicle, and seven armoured combat vehicles, Russian forces responded. Fighting persisted, it added.
