The moon landing. The fall of the Berlin Wall. And then there’s the Russian tank that ran out of gas in Ukraine. Because if there’s one thing you absolutely don’t want during a war, it’s your multi-million-dollar war machine playing the “low fuel” warning sound.
But here we are. A real story, more bizarre than fiction.
“We’re Out of Gas.”
Imagine being a Russian tank crew. You’ve been told you’re going on a “military exercise,” which is like telling a kid they’re going to Disneyland but dropping them off at the dentist. You’re rolling through the countryside, pretending not to notice the civilians filming you from behind bushes, when suddenly your tank sputters to a stop.
“Vasily, did you forget to fill the tank?”
“I thought YOU filled it!”
“Well, I thought Boris filled it!”
Somewhere, a Soviet-era supply officer probably forgot to check a box, and now a state-of-the-art tank is about as useful as a brick.
As the crew sat there in stunned silence, reality must have hit like a missile. They weren’t on an exercise anymore. They weren’t heading back to base. They were stuck, vulnerable, and — worst of all — out of gas.
